Hey, do you know where comics are sold? Do you? If you do we can buy the inaugural issue of Comic Foundry. It features my first piece of fiction that's ever been published. I'm actually bringing back Brill Building for one more post to offer a "director's commentary" on the story. I read the story yesterday (it's the fifth or sixth time I've read this draft). I liked certain things about it but overall I think it needed some more polishing. This story did a lot of evolving in a short amount of time. The first draft is very different. It's also very bad. The final draft is okay. I wanted to capture the idea of someone figuring out that they love comics. Someone who crosses the line from casual fan (I think every urban dweller age 18-35 is a casual fan of comics at this point) to someone who truly sees something in the medium. They see something that gives them a very personal satisfaction. I'll save it for the blog post, though.
There are things in the magazine that will make you happy. Matt Fraction shows how to make love to Kieron Gillen. There are a lot of pictures of the woman from Veronica Mars, who is also interviewed. They test out comic book characters' pick-up lines on real women. I found that rather funny. There's a woman running around New York (I think) who has said on record that she would sleep with Metal Men creator Dr. Magnus. What an age we live in.
